Indian Railways launches recruitment drive to fill 89,000 vacant positions


In one of its largest recruitment drives, Indian Railways has started the process of hiring 89,000 C and D Group employees which include assistant loco pilots, technicians, gangmen, switchmen, trackmen, cabinmen, welders, helpers and porters.

The Indian Railways published a notification about Group D vacancies for candidates who have passed Class X or have an industrial training diploma and are in the age group of 18-31. The monthly salary along with allowances as per the Seventh Pay Commission (level 1) will be given to the selected candidates. Applications for these jobs will be accepted till March 12. Group C will follow a similar process with 26,502 vacancies to be filled for assistant loco pilots and technicians.

Piyush Goyal, the railway minister, announced the start of this recruitment drive talking about these Group D openings, through a tweet.
